Classification of Hardness Testers
2021-10-18 09:21

Hardness tester is a kind of hardness testing instrument. The hardness measurement of metals was first proposed by Leomr, which is defined as the ability of a material to resist the pressing of hard objects into its surface. It is one of the important performance indicators of metal materials. Generally, the higher the hardness, the better the wear resistance.

Types of hardness testers:
1. Brinell hardness tester
It is mainly used for the hardness determination of cast iron, steel, non-ferrous metals and soft alloys. The Brinell hardness test is the test method with the largest indentation in all hardness tests. It can reflect the comprehensive performance of the material and is not affected by the micro-segregation and uneven composition of the sample structure, which is a high-precision hardness test method.
2. Rockwell hardness tester
Rockwell hardness tester, which can test the hardness of metal by contacting the sample on one side, relies on the magnetic force to adsorb the Rockwell hardness tester head on the surface of the steel without supporting the sample.
3. Vickers hardness tester
Vickers hardness tester is a high-tech product of optical-mechanical-electrical integration. It is a new type of hardness testing instrument that adopts precision mechanical technology and photoelectric technology.
4. Blowi hardness tester
Blowi hardness tester is suitable for determining the hardness of ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, hard alloys, carburized layers and chemically treated layers.
5. Micro hardness tester
The micro hardness tester is a precision instrument for testing the performance of metal materials in machinery, metallurgy and other industries.
6. Leeb hardness tester
Leeb hardness tester uses an impact body with a certain quality to strike the surface of the sample under a certain test force, and calculates the hardness by measuring the ratio of the impact velocity of the impact body 1mm from the surface of the sample to the rebound velocity.
7. Shore hardness tester
Shore hardness tester is an instrument for measuring the hardness of rubber, plastic, and metal materials.
8. Webster Hardness Tester
A hard steel indenter of a certain shape is pressed into the surface of the sample under the action of a standard spring test force, and the material hardness is determined by the indentation depth of the indenter.
9. Barcol hardness tester
Barcol hardness tester is a kind of indentation hardness tester, which can measure aluminum, aluminum alloy, soft metal, plastic, optical fiber, fire ladder, composite material, rubber or leather, glass fiber reinforced plastic, etc.
10. Shore hardness tester
Shore hardness tester is widely used in the hardness measurement of rubber and plastics.

The above is the specific content about the classification of hardness testers. In daily use, the type of hardness tester should be selected correctly according to actual needs and requirements.
