Torque meter, also known as torque tester, torque measuring instrument, is a kind of quality control equipment. It is a precision instrument used to detect, test and calibrate various torques, and can be used for the calibration of torque sensors, the transmission torque of the power system, and the testing of the tightening torque of fasteners like bolts.
 
Torque is the product of the torque and the distance from the point of application to the direction of the torque, and the unit is Newton·m (N·m). The method of torque measurement can be divided into three categories according to its basic principle, transmission method, balance force method and energy conversion method. Correspondingly, torque measuring instruments can be roughly divided into three categories, transmission type, balance force type and energy conversion type. Torque measurement sensors can be divided into deformation type, stress type and strain type.
 
Maintenance of torque meter:
1. If the torque meter is not used for a long time, for example, more than 1 month, the power-on inspection should be carried out according to the environmental conditions to prevent moisture and other bad gases from affecting the reliability.
2. Avoid contact with corrosive substances to prolong service life. For non-waterproof platform scales, do not allow water to enter the sensor, terminal box, etc., to avoid damage or influence on measurement.
3. Regularly remove the rust on the sensor screws, do not interfere with the cleaning of the sensor, do not change the resistance of the sensor, and do not affect the weight.
4. Regularly check the position of the scale angle screw to confirm whether the screw position is within the normal range of use.
5. When the torque tester fails, the power supply should be cut off quickly. If the cause of the failure cannot be judged correctly, a professional engineer is required to check and repair it. Do not open the case and replace internal parts casually.
6. Operators and equipment maintenance personnel of the torque meter must receive professional training before they operate and maintain the instrument.
